THE THEMES
PEOPLE
People are what make our towns and cities tick and there are myriad opportunities for great shots. Candids in markets, festivals and processions are obvious things to shoot but you may prefer a more journalistic approach and photograph people at work or simply colourful characters.
OPEN SPACES
You can take the scenic approach to parks by photographing trees or even the wildlife that live in our parks. Or you can use the close-focusing mode of your camera and make the most of floral displays and detail shots of colour blooms.
ARCHITECTURE
Every town and city has photogenic buildings. To you, this might be something old and quaint or you might prefer to photograph impressive modern structures of steel and glass. The choice of subject is entirely up to you but we’re looking for images that show you’ve made an effort to impress.
ABSTRACT
This is a fun category where almost anything goes, but graphic impact is key to success. Things you could aim your lens at could include colourful graffiti, urban decay, torn posters and details in buildings.
